Township10 allowed this precious occasion. It allowed me to feel the highs and lows that always persist, while providing me the consistency of a reliable place to work out those emotions and to begin connecting it all into meaningful ideas.

Curating is not strictly an academic discipline; it is a very much a creative practice. Curators make exhibitions. As with art-making, research, experimentation, criticality, formal analysis and invention are involved.

"Working with clay provided me a kind of meditative motion. The focus it takes to work on the wheel has an undeniable kinship to the focus of poem making. With both you have to get into a zone, you snap out of it and the pot falls, the poem disappears."

Coming from California, North Carolina is another world. The dialect, the food, the culture--it was all foreign to me but felt so familiar at the same time. I don’t think I would have ever ventured to such a place if it wasn’t for Township10. When I was invited to spend 2 months at T10 I never expected to fall in love.

It's like that one island where Wonder Woman is from, you know. It's all invisible and separated from the rest of the world and no one can bother you so you can practice your kung fu all out.
