"Every day from sunrise to late-noon a Cardinal knocked at the cottage windows.
Every day for the last 7 weeks I would wake up and make my coffee and watch this stubborn bird going back and forth, knocking at all of the windows. Watching this determination and consistency of red bird, made me reflect on my making process, and how familiar this every day routine was.
The residency went like the blink of an eye. I had so much joy making large sculptures and being at such a beautiful, sublime place, deep on the NC mountains. I felt lucky for the great weather, frustrated and challenged working with a new type of clay, and finally a sense of grace, for all the work I accomplished in a little more than a month.
This was my first residency and I can’t wait to go back. Thank you Township 10 for an amazing, life-changing experience."
