I wish I was at Township10. That’s all I have been thinking to myself since I left the smoky mountains of North Carolina. I miss the green trees, the sounds of birds and the flowing creek; I miss the solitude and the freedom. I miss the people and the energy of a place that will never leave my heart.

Coming from California, North Carolina is another world. The dialect, the food, the culture, it was all foreign to me but felt so familiar at the same time. I don’t think I would have ever ventured to such a place if it wasn’t for Township10. When I was invited to spend 2 months at T10 I never expected to fall in love. I fell in love with Kyle, and Marjorie, and our neighbors, and the land. Township10 gave me an opportunity that I will never forget. It gave me the chance to dive deep into my own practice, get out of my comfort zone, and learn so much about myself.

Township10 is not just a residency space. It is a home. It is a family. It is paradise. It is a dream come true. There is no better studio space that an artist can ask for. There is no better tech and friend than Kyle Lawson. There is no better host and director than Marjorie Dial. Any other residency that I attend in the future will have a hard time living up to Township10.

Thank you Marjorie and Kyle for the greatest experience of my life. Thank you for providing the space, love, and support to allow me to grow, push my boundaries, and expand my practice as an artist.

I still wish I was at Township10.
